Conflict
The main conflict in The Hobbit is Bilbo and the dwarfs vs greed. When Smaug dies the dwarves refuse to share there wealth with anyone else. Bilbo overcomes his greed and gives the towns people the arkenstone. The arkenstone is the rarest gem the the dwarves have been looking for in the dragons chamber. When he gives it to them they thank him and he returns to the Dwarves. When they find out Bilbo betrayed Thorin the leader he refused to give him any of the treasure and does not speak to him. The goblins then come and attack the dwarves and townspeople for the treasure. At the end of the battle Thorin is wounded and dies and so do some of the other dwarves. Before he dies he forgives Bilbo and makes peace with him. Greed has affected many people in this story for treasure and Bilbo is the only one to overcome it. People lost there lives for greed because all they wanted was treasure.
