Definition of Theme:
A theme is a subject that a story has to do with. A theme for to kill a mocking bird is racism because it is set during that time period and parts of the story revolve around racism.
Definition:
Fear can be defined in the story in to kill a mocking bird as being scared. In the story everyone fears Boo Radley because of the stories they herd. They don't know If the stories are real but the fear of the stories scare them.
Examples:
1. A example of fear in to kill a mockingbird is when Scout is rolled down the street and hears laughter when she lands in the Radley place. "I had heard another sound, so low I could not have heard it from the sidewalk. Someone inside the house was laughing." She is scared because when she got up she herd Boo and ran because the stories scare her.
2. Another example of fear is when Jem was dared to knock on the Radley house. "I hope you've got it through your head he'll kill each and every one." (page 17) Jem says this because he is scared of opening the door and seeing Boo because he would probably kill them. So to be safe and not completely back out he touches the house. He fears Boo for the same reason his sister does he is scared of the legends he has heard.

1. Tom is disabled and seems like a nice, unthreatening guy. So why is Maycomb so scared of him?
